One-Click iPhone Flashlight Trick

I’ve always enjoyed the many extra uses of a cellphone. Particularly, the use of it as a flashlight has been a constant lifesaver. On the iPhone, its big LCD gets the job done quite well but what it enjoys in size, it lacks in quick-draw access. Especially coming from a Sony Ericsson K750i, which you can just slide open its camera cover and then press asterisk to turn on the light, that no-look 2-step action just edges out the JesusPhone’s multi-touchscreen, at least in that sense. Luckily, here’s a geeky function over form workaround, and no, it’s not a software launcher of sorts:

Basically, what you do is to take a screenshot of Flashlight or a white screen and then set it as your wallpaper. Plain and simple. Below is the screenshot I used, so you know, you won’t have to do it. If you’re reading this on your iPhone now, just hold on the image below (tricky since its white, but its there) and then choose save image. Then you can just browse through your Photos and set it as your wallpaper. That’s it! Now, all you have to do is press the wake-up button and viola, you can now see in the dark like a bat. An optional step is to chant “Hallelujah” or shout “Let there be light!” while pressing on the wake-up button. I usually do it.
